Writing Proof of Income Letters

To piggyback onto our last blog post regarding the need for paper stubs, comes the lesson on how to write proof of income letters.

We all know how difficult finding an apartment in an overly populated area, where rent it over the roof high and there really are not very many options. It takes forever to finally find an apartment that fits your needs and is in your budget- the last thing you need is for your tenant application to be denied.

How to Write a Killer Proof of Income Letter

The goal of the letter is to prove to the future landlord that you are always going to pay your rent; shortly, it is a time to boast about how great of a job you have and how responsible your mom taught you to be. You don't have many opportunities like this- take advantage.

To start, begin with your contact information so they know who you are. Let me warn now, DO NOT give them the wrong contact info. Make sure and double check your typing. Giving them a number that is disconnected is sure to get your denied. Also include your employers contact information in this section and how they should speak to when they call and also upload any pay stubs that you had from your employers online pay stub generator.

After you have given all of your income info, write a subject line so the future landlord knows what the letter is about and wants to continue to read your information.

Next, comes all the great traits that you possess. If you think it is something great about you that shows how responsible you are, write it down!

You also want to tell them about your income and provide the pay stubs that we mentioned earlier in this phase of the letter. You don't want to leave them any hesitation as to whether or not you are going to be able to make your rent payments on time.

Finally, conclude your letter and make one last final impression on the reader. After all, you spent a ton of time hunting down this apartment; you do not want to let it go just because you didn't write a good enough letter!
